web watch 2006 - chow chow
In January, 2006 up here in Canada we were in the throes of a federal election. Here at the Last Link, we decided to stay out of the fray but we would like to present one item in the spirit of the mandate of this page.
With this election, everybody and his dog had got a blog going. That included everyone from the mainstream media to political party underlings.
However, a lesson one candidate didn't learn soon enough is that in cyberspace everyone can hear you scream-huh?
Case in point: Liberal Party senior official Mike Klander's blog which is now not found.
On his site (which he described as "a whole lot about nothing") Klander cited which fashion accessories make candidates "look gay," that Conservative-Alliance leader Stephen Harper "creeps people out" and NDP leader Jack Layton "is a weasel" and "is an asshole."
But when Klander on December 9th, 2005 compared Layton's wife and fellow candidate Olivia Chow to a dog, even a sleeping populace took notice.
So, what was the item Klander posted on his site?

Incidentally, Olivia Chow won her seat in the election and Kander's Liberals lost. No doubt a resume was dusted off.
