Fall 2007 ratings

The "Fall 2007" book measured Edmonton television audiences from October 18th November 21st. In January 2008 CTV and Global Edmonton both made claims declaring themselves the viewer's favourite choice. What gives?

Unlike the Bureau of Broadcast Measurement's radio ratings, details of television surveys are generally not made public ... unless stations have something good to say about themselves. In the case of the fall ratings, the same set of numbers seemed to be able to serve two masters.

Edmonton television ratings - Spring 2008

Unlike the Fall 2007 television ratings book that somehow allowed both Global and CTV Edmonton to claim the top spot, there was no mistaking the Spring 2008 numbers – Global's got it!

The local television arm of the Canada.com media empire beat out its longtime competitor in the key supper-hour time slot and for the first time in what seemed like forever, a CTV news director had to deal with being in second place.
