Stony Plain RCMP laid charges of first-degree murder, interfering with human remains and accessory after the fact in the wake of the discovery of a man's body inside an incinerator. Those charged in the murder of 77-year-old Alex Fred Semenovich were the elderly man's wife, daughter and grandson. That three generations of a single family were charged in connection with a murder was unprecedented in Alberta history.

It took 24 hours for police to decide whether the discovery of a dead woman found face down in the snow outside her home was a suspicious death or a murder victim. For the second time in a month "Our Gang" has gotten a little smaller. Gordon Lee was the chubby child actor who played Spanky McFarland's little brother "Porky" in the "Little Rascals" comedies. It is one of the most memorable tag lines in advertising history: "Ho Ho Ho -- Green Giant!" The "Ho Ho Ho" belonged to voice Len Dresslar. Lee and Dresslar both died on October 16th, and their lives are celebrated on the final credits page.

In memory of the four RCMP officers who died in the line of duty on March 3, 2005, the Always Remembered Memorial Fund has been set up to aid the families of the slain officers. Doug Winkleman, a member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police stationed in Edmonton, and the Mounted Police Foundation have developed and designed a limited edition memorial pin.
