Wild time in Westwood
Just before 5:30 p.m. on June 5th, 2007 police received several calls reporting gunfire ... and two cars smashing into each other.
The automotive roller derby seemed to have begun after an argument near the intersection of 105th Street and 119th Avenue in the Westwood neighbourhood.
Gunshots were exchanged and one car rear-ended the other, afterwhich the vehicles left in different directions. Police found one of the damaged cars near 123rd Avenue and 106th Street, the other at 119th Avenue and 102nd Street.

The investigation was hampered by the lack of cooperation from the victim and witnesses. No suspects were identified.
An early CTV Edmonton report featured footage of an injured person being transported on a stretcher. No details were provided on that person's connection to the incident.
The Sudanese community was reeled in May 2007 after Deng Atem Bulgak and Juk (Jock) Deng Ring were shot to death behind a home in the Delwood neighbourhood.
Naked man dies in police custody
Police have released few details about the cause of death of a 39-year-old man who died while in their custody.
The incident began at about 4:00 p.m. on June 30th, 2007 when officers responded to a report of a fight between a man and a woman at a house near 35th Street and 22nd Avenue. The man then fled to a neighbour's house at 2104 35 Street and tried to get inside.
When police arrived, the man involved in the altercation was found naked on the roof. He then tried to jump from one house to another ... but missed and fell about 20 feet to the ground.
"He walked up the peak of the roof, took off all his clothes and took a running jump off the edge towards the roof of the house next door," an unnamed witness told the Edmonton Sun.
Police say the man was conscious as they approached. He struggled with the officer after one handcuff was placed on his wrist. A male and a female bystander helped the constable put the other cuff on the man who then went into cardiac arrest.
"The cops asked us for help," the Sun quoted a witness named only as Gordon.
"I was holding down his feet and [another neighbour] was holding down his arms as the cop got him cuffed. I was shocked at how much fight he had in him for a guy who'd fallen so far."
Emergency medical services were called and despite the constable administering CPR, the man was pronounced dead in hospital.
The man's name has not been released and investigators said they were "awaiting further test results" before releasing a cause of death.
Results of an autopsy completed July 3rd have not yet been released.
