======================================================================== ** COPY OF EMAIL RECEIVED BY THE LAST LINK ON THE LEFT ** ======================================================================== On Thursday November 16, 2006 our justice system has failed us Canadians again. Another killer has been let out of jail to live in our community so he can re offend again. Which means there could be more victims and its just a matter of time. The killer of Joshua John Hunt was released in to his grandfathers custody as his personal jailer located at 115st and 42 ave Edmonton, Alberta. I sure wouldn't want him living on my street this killer has a past criminal history of convictions such as 11 break and enters, 1 robbery offence, one weapon offence plus he has now been charged with 2nd degree murder and two counts of assault with a weapon. His grandfather is an retired police officer that retired 20 years ago. He retired from his desk position at the police department at the old age of 48. I can't remember the last time a police officer retired at 48 years old "STRANGE". The Judge refused bail however, then through a curve ball at our system allowing the killer to be released under a section 31 application that was granted by the judge. During the hearing the grandfather was questioned on the stand in of the judge by defense council and the crown to prove his ability at age 67 if he could handle dealing with the killer in his home on a full time basis. One of the questions asked of him from the crown was what would you do if the killer can home after his curfew time by 15 minutes? "the grandfather replied well I wouldn't call the police because they have better things to do and he would only be 15 minutes late" The crown then asked how would you control him in your home? "the grandfather replied well I wouldn't brow beat him if that's what your asking me to do" the crown then asked do you honestly think after 17 plus years that his parents couldn't control him and the night Josh Hunt was killed his mother couldn't control him do you think you can at your age? "the grandfather replied well I'm not sure and there's no guarantees but I'll give it a try". The crown then asked when was the last time you dealt with a teenager in your home that was living with you full time? the grandfather replied well we had our two grandchildren age 7 and 8 living with us up to 2 years ago and I think it's much harder to deal with a 7 or 8 year old than a teen" Can you believe that the judge listened to this grandfathers answers and he still allowed the approval of the section 31 application of release. Must I remind our judges and our justice system in Canada that this killer took a life from a young man age 16 year old by stabbing him through his rib, heart and lung with great force with a 10 inch kitchen knife just 32 days ago plus he has many past serious offences in the community of Edmonton. Surely we pay our judges for there retirement plan enough tax money to save guard the safety of all Canadians so then I ask what are they doing? This killer should be left in jail for the safety of everyone so he does not have the chance to re offend again! Who has to be murdered or hurt next? Maybe these judges should allow him to live next door to their families and take the risk we all have too! Enough is enough the only way our government and our justice system is going to do the right things is if we all stand together through the petitions posted on the web site located at www.joshhunt.info even if this situation or past situations don't personally affect you right now I encourage you to take the step of filling in these petitions so that we can be safe again in Canada before it happens to you or someone you love or care about. Loosing a love one through murder is a very, very painful experience one that will never go away and I pray you never have to deal with or experience it. However, if we don't take the necessary steps to change things and if the government hasn't by now then it will only get worse! Again I urge you to please take the step of filling in as many petitions as possible not just in Edmonton but the entire country of Canada and get then back to us to fax number (780) 440-3148. Also on November 23, 2006 at 7:00 pm we are asking you to come out to a candle light vigil located at the legislator building in Edmonton in front of the main steps to celebrate Josh Hunt's 17th birthday as well as, support the necessary changes on the petitions. We have asked a number of people to come out to guest speak in regards to these needed changes. Please bring as many people with a candle with you as possible and again lets stand together for change. Hope to see you there!
