main page | deadmonton archivesIn 2005, Edmonton set an all-time one-year murder record with 39 deaths, more than one every 10 days, surpassing the previous mark of 28 set in 2004 and 1990. In comparison, Winnipeg had 24 homicides in 2005, Calgary had 23 and Ottawa had 11.
The body of Theresa Merrie Innes was found near Fort Saskatchewan but the actual murder location has yet to be established. The police shooting of Darren James Cardinal is also included in this tally.
